Yea, I plan on doing the Chops League. My plan is to get a bunch of random games and the ones I can't make, sell those tickets to coworkers, friends, etc. to make back some of the money. Yea, the cost is a little high if you were just paying to play in a league, but you get tickets as well. You can either use them or sell them to try to recoup some of your money. Personally, I think it is a great deal...plus, you are supporting the new hockey team here in Des Moines.

I don't know if they are doing it the same way, but with the Stars you could buy a ticket package, then if you couldn't make a game you could exchange the tickets for another game. I never tried it, but it looked like on paper that you could have, for example, bought a package of 14 games for 2 people, then exchanged half of them to match the other 7 games, essentially creating a 7 game package for 4 people (or any other way you wanted to manipulate it around). I never bought a package so I didn't ever test it, but I'm pretty sure it would work.
It's a short time livin' and a long time in the ground.

Chops League will most likely play 6 games on Thursdays and 2 games on Saturdays, but that should get confirmed next week. We are getting it filled pretty well with a great group of C & D League Players.
Our total player count is approx 20 people & 3 goalies (thats registered). I have another 20-30 people who have expressed interest, but have not paid a deposit. In order to make sure it happens, we need everyone who is wanting to do it, to stop in and fill out the form with deposit.
Again, we do not get enough to do this, and the league does not happen, everyone will get there money back with no commitment.
Should be a great "recreational" league that allows everyone to play with a fun group of players.

I love how they keep changing stuff. You'd think the "rink manager" would get all of the details worked out before sending a mass e-mail out to the players in the league, but instead, fills my inbox with updates and changes every couple of days. Here's an idea, figure out the league details...THEN send out an e-mail.

Foresight and planning by the rink? Did you forget about the week when the games were cancelled because of the camp? They notified us on what, Tuesday? I am waiting for tomorrow to see if maybe they will change it again. "D league will now play every other Sunday at midnight and C league will be played two days per month in marathon sessions with no Zamboni in between. Periods will be three hours long to give players more ice time. Icing will be moved back to the goal line to keep a constant flow and have fewer stoppages. Goalies will stil lbe free b/c they are now banned except when the third Tuesday of the month is a full moon; then they can skate around the net but never stop in front of it. - Oh wait, let's make that the second Wednesday and the losing team gets to clean up the locker rooms and resurface the parking lot."

I REALLY hope the rink doesn't see that. They might take it serious and actually implement those rule changes. QCI - Goalie #42 Chops League - Skater

Oh god, you may be right! Based on what I am hearing, the Bucs arena league probably will not happen this winter. This means the Chops league is the only alternative to playing at MISF. Bad news for anyone who wished to find an alternative. However, supposedly the folks at KGGO arena are intrigued by our desire to play on their ice and are considering renting ice time to a C/D/Rec league next fall if the interest is still there. At some point those of us that are interested should organize and get our ducks in a row to set up our own league at KGGO. A league for players and run by players (or a small group of them anyway), the way adult rec hockey was meant to be played. We should stick to our guns and make this happen in the near future.

I think you're fine. I haven't seen rosters yet, but based upon the team names, there has probably been some roster changes for quite a few of the teams. Slapshot does/did have a goalie, so I'm guessing he either opted to not play this season, or has found another team to play for. I'm guessing the rink would have put together as many teams as we have goalies, so if you both signed up, you'd both be on a team.
